5 foundations that will get your selfies in formation
Okay ladies now let’s get in formation with must-have foundation.
Have you ever put your foundation on, snapped a photo for the Gram, and thought, holy cow, I look bad? Or maybe you saw your reflection in the bathroom at the nightclub and said, ewe, my foundation is not cutting it tonight! Well, I’ve had plenty of those things happen to me. It’s not so fun when you’re out trying to look cute and the opposite is happening.
Maybe your foundation looked gray on camera. Did it have flashback? Did your flaws show through? Maybe your foundation faded a bit. Or the worst, most of your foundation was already gone by the time you caught this. This doesn’t have to happen to you anymore. How do you find the perfect foundation that will get your selfies in formation?
I have some recommendations for you as well as some application tips to make sure you get the most out of your foundation and wear it like a boss. Your foundation will be so flawless, you won’t ever want to take it off.
Know Your Skin TYPE
First things first, you want to make sure you’re considering your skin type and undertone when choosing the right foundation and color. If your skin is normal, you are in foundation candyland. You have so many options when it comes to foundation. You can wear foundations catered to normal skin, dry skin, and combination skin.
If your skin is oily, you want to stick to foundations that are formulated for oily skin and help control the oil production. Usually, the foundation will specify this on the bottle. You may also want to pair this with an oil-controlling foundation primer to further combat the oil juice.
If you’re a dry skin girl, you need moisture! Quench the thirst, hydrate that face. I would recommend that you use a good moisturizer like Neutrogena Hydraboost Water Gel or Aveeno Active Naturals Daily Moisturizing Lotion. You may also try a hydrating primer like the Make Up For Ever Hydrating Primer for added moisture and wear.
For dry skin, you really want to use a foundation that is specifically formulated for dry skin. The extra moisture will help condition and improve your skin over time.
be mindful of your skin’s undertone.
An undertone is a subdued or underlying color. Fair skin could be fair cool, fair neutral, or fair warm. Cool undertones are a pinkish/reddish color. Neutral undertones are just that, neutral. Neutral doesn’t pull more cool or warm like the other options. Warm undertones are more yellow/orange depending on your skin tone.
To find out what your undertone is, take this short quiz.
top 5 foundation must-haves:
Stila Stay All Day Foundation
This is a camera-ready, full-coverage, and long-lasting foundation. This is one of my favorite foundations of all time. If you want to look like Kim Kardashian’s long lost cousin or Taylor Swift’s long lost twin, it’s packaged up and sold in thisbottle.
This foundation is truly a rare gem. It’s oil-free, high-definition, and completely matte. That’s right oily girls, this is your BFF! This formula also works well for normal and combination skin. If you have dry skin, I would stay away from this foundation. It might accentuate fine lines and dry patches.
Every time I take a selfie with this foundation, I feel like the queen of the world. The only thing I’m missing is a gigantic crown and cute palace.
If you like all of your blemishes and imperfections to be completely covered, you will probably love this product.
If you’re single and looking for love, look no further. I’ve found your match! Tall, dark, and handsome oh my. He even comes with a return policy so you can take him back where he came from if he doesn’t act right.
This foundation is selfie approved.
Becca Ultimate Coverage Complexion Crème
This foundation right here…is the stars, the moon, fairy dust, and ultimate ish! This will transform your makeup game in a matter of minutes.
This is a full-coverage, long-lasting, and selfie-ready foundation. This performs exceptionally well in photos. It doesn’t matter if you’re using your phone or HD camera. This formula is fool-proof, no selfie will be ruined ever again.
I love how pigmented this formula is. It’s super lightweight on the skin which is shocking for a formula that’s so thick and rich in pigment.
According to Sephora, this product conceals imperfections. It also conceals redness, hyperpigmentation, and uneven texture. It’s Ideal for any skin type. It’s formulated with a balance of 21 percent pure pigment and 22 percent water, which work in synergy to completely soften the appearance of blemishes and uneven texture.
This formula is great for all skin types. If you suffer from skin conditions, this foundation may be where the money’s at for you. Becca’s Complexion Crème has the best color selection in the market in my opinion. They got the colors and undertones right across the board. This is the closest match I’ve ever found to my true skin tone.
Major key alert: This foundation can change the game for you and make you look and feel your best in minutes.
Kat Von D Lock-It Foundation
If you’re like me and you enjoy full glam, look no further. Kat Von D’s Lock-It Foundation is a testament to the bold girl who wants to make a statement. This is a full-coverage formula made with 21 percent pigment.
Blendability is not as easy as the Becca foundation because there’s not as much water in it. However, in my opinion, it gives an even fuller-coverage look because of this. This works well with normal, oily, and combination skin. The formula is very matte so dry skin may not appreciate this formula as much.
This foundation does feel the heaviest out of all of the foundations I’m mentioning on this list. You can definitely feel it on your skin. If you’re okay with that then give this baby a try. The line features so many different colors for women of all shades. You can find a color for you. Although this product is carried in Sephora, it’s priced very reasonably.
Want to look like a CoverGirl? Literally.. Like you’re on a cover of a magazine?
You will slay your Instagram feed and get likes and comments galore with this foundation.

Revlon ColorStay Makeup For Normal/Dry Skin
This is my drugstore favorite. Yes Walgreens, please take all of my money. If you’re on a budget and still want to look put together for your next event, try this one out.
This foundation comes in two different formulas. There is one for normal/dry skin and one for oily/combination skin. I’ve tried both but my favorite is the formula for normal/dry skin. For reference, I used to have combination skin but my skin has since transitioned to normal.
If your skin is extremely oily, go with the oily/combination formula. However, I’ve found that the normal/dry formula performs really well for combination, normal, and dry skin. Make sure to get the formulas that are SPF free. It will say SPF on the bottle if SPF is in the formula. This doesn’t look good in photos; it can give you a greyish-white cast if you’re not careful.
The Revlon Colorstay formula is a medium to full-coverage formula that feels lightweight on the skin. It doesn’t last 24 hours, I would say you can get a 12-hour wear with it. It looks absolutely beautiful in pictures. My skin always looks radiant, healthy, and glowy when I wear this foundation. It looks and feels like skin which is what I love about it so much.
It can cover up your imperfections like a dream and applies well with a synthetic brush or a damp beauty sponge. It doesn’t feel or look cakey and doesn’t settle into fine lines or wrinkles. This formula works well for many people and continues to be a product that I rave about.
My only complaint is that I don’t like the smell of it. It smells sort of like paint in the bottle but the smell goes away after it sets on your face. I also have sensitive skin and didn’t have any reactions to this product.
In pictures, this foundation is stunning. It’s perfect for a casual day out for turkey sandwiches or to a formal dinner with linen tablecloths and classy hors d’oeuvre.
Lancome Teint Idole Ultra 24 HR Long-Wear Foundation
Looking for a foundation that’s oil-free, fragrance-free, transfer-resistant, noncomedogenic, and suitable for all skin types? Want to walk into a room and have all eyes on you? Do you want effortless glam?
Your search ends here.
Lancome Teint Idole Foundation is a medium-to-full coverage foundation that provides more of a natural look. If you don’t want to look too overdone and don’t want to feel like you’re wearing makeup then this foundation is for you.
I wear this foundation on days where I want great coverage but don’t want someone else to immediately notice that I’m wearing makeup. This sounds odd but this foundation truly gives you the flexibility to do just that. You can achieve the no-makeup makeup look with sparing use of this product.
This foundation glides on so smooth and sets beautifully on the face. It doesn’t settle into fine lines and wrinkles. It also doesn’t accentuate large pores or dry skin. It does a good job of balancing out the skin.
Oh, and let’s not talk about the selfie game! Can you say, strong?!
You heard that right. Your selfies will look so effortlessly chic it’s crazy.
The Lancome foundation is very long-lasting. I’ve worn it up to 13 hours without any budge whatsoever. This takes second place for best color selection in the market. They have all the colors you can possibly think of, probably too many. Sometimes, I’m stuck between two to three shades because they’re so close in color.
Go to your local Sephora and get a free sample of this product, test it out and let me know how it worked for you.
You can also apply these products with a synthetic face brush like the Sigma Flat Top Kabuki brush. There are so many options in the market.
